From The Sniffy App We are raising $3,000 to fund for professional dog trainers' expertise to develop the content of an online dog training system of our app.
As both dog lovers and technology students, we always want to leverage the power of technology to improve the relationships between animals and humans. We have talked to more than 300 dog owners and trainers in Rochester and New York City to discover their problems. We found that lots of dog owners’ dogs have behavioral issues, such as chewing furniture or jumping on others. Although those dog owners know that their dogs need training, professional training resources are not easy to access. For example, online training resources lack of structure, but going to a training class is not convenient and costs more money. Also, training is an ongoing process, lots of owners fail because of inconsistency. Eventually, those behavioral issues are not solved. Lots of owners decided to tolerate them, or even turn their dogs into a shelter.
As a result, we came up with the Sniffy concept, built the prototype, and brought it back to those owners and evaluate it, making sure this is what they need. Now we are developing the app with certified dog trainers. We want to provide dog owners with tailored training plans, teaching them how to train their dogs by themselves, and offer training tracking and consultation to help dog owners keep consistency in the training process. Now we are raising funding to pay for certified dog trainers' expertise and cover the cost for making dog training videos.
The funds we raise while crowdfunding will go into the Simone Center General Fund where we will have access to them. If we are unable to spend the full amount raised, the remaining balance will go to other Simone Center student groups.
