The ACT Human Rights Film Festival goes beyond the powerful films that it features to take real ACTion in support of human rights around the world. ACT brings together the Colorado State University and Northern Colorado community to witness human rights stories from around the world and to move toward change through meaningful dialogue after each screening. These inspiring conversations are special educational opportunities to discuss ACT films with those closest to them – the filmmakers, film subjects, and activists who brought the film to life.

The audience is given the opportunity to deeply engage with the film themes, strengthening their resolve to make a real change. Past festival guests include:

• Harry Belafonte, an American singer, songwriter, actor, and social activist, who was an early supporter of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 1960s, and one of Martin Luther King Jr.'s confidants
• Rory O’Neill, best known as Panti Bliss, a famous drag queen and gay rights activist from Ireland, who led the fight for marriage equality in Ireland
• Razia Jan, founder and president of Razia's Ray of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in Afghanistan through community-based education
